You can now Play Doom in Age of Empires

Doom meets Age of Empires Hell yeah!

Id Software's legendary Doom can be played in a lot of things such as Minecraft, crabs and even in an article we wrote. We can now add Age of Empires 2 to the list, as modders have made a full strategy campaign based on Doom - including the iconic sprites from the FPS and sound effects.

'Age of Doom" was written by modder "HellKnight61" (thanks, DSOGaming) and is a custom campaign for Age of Empires 2 that recreates the events of the original Doom's story mostly in the style of Doom 3, with the escape from Hell by the demons arranged by Dr. Betruger, but characters from later Doom games like Vega do appear.

ModDB has the mod at ModDB. Version 1.0 was released this week. It's not able to play the final episode, however, it still has four episodes and the tutorial. HellKnight61 has added numerous features to make it more Doom-like than Age of Empires. These include the ability for the Doom marines to flick switches, use Teleporters, and even sprint.

The Doom guy has all of Doom's classic weapons including the BFG and Doom 3's Soul Cube. All the monsters are there and some have sound effects that were culled from different games. It's fundamentally Doom as an isometric strategy shooter with an Age of Empires lens. It's an impressive piece of art.

Despite both having been launched in the '90s, the Doom and Age of Empires franchises continue to thrive. Age of Empires 4 will be released next month. It may even get another beta.  poesia infantil Doom Eternal, which was released in the year before is currently being improved and there could be additional stories with the Doom Slayer.
